Reino Cruz grew up at the intersection of two rich culinary traditions. Raised by a Filipino mother and a Mexican father, food was never just sustenance in his household. It was culture, identity, and connection. That early exposure to bold, layered, deeply personal cooking lit a fire that has fueled more than 25 years of professional culinary work spanning restaurants, large-scale catering, private events, and some of the most demanding kitchens in the country. Hungry to understand food beyond his own roots, Reino has traveled to over a dozen countries, studying the cuisines and cultures that continue to shape his approach to every plate he creates.
Reino's professional kitchen career began in 2001, grounded in Le Cordon Bleu training that gave him the technical foundation for everything that followed. Building experience across restaurants and catering prepared him for what came next. In 2008 the road called, and he answered. For over 15 years he has worked as a tour chef for some of the biggest names in music, including Linkin Park, Mötley Crüe, Drake, Sia, and many others, feeding world-class artists across countless cities, time zones, and production schedules where there is no margin for error. Between tours he served as a yacht chef in the Caribbean, the Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas, where sourcing fresh ingredients meant dropping a line off the back of the boat and pulling up mahi and tuna the same morning they hit the plate. That connection to truly fresh, honest ingredients has never left him. Most recently he served as Head Chef of artist catering for the nation's largest concert promoter in Northern California, overseeing large-scale culinary operations where consistency, creativity, and composure under pressure are not optional. Along the way he has competed multiple times on Food Network's Guy's Grocery Games, proving his instincts hold up when the cameras are rolling and the clock is running.
Cruz Experience is the next chapter, and the culmination of everything that came before it. Built on two and a half decades of real-world experience across every format and scale of professional cooking, Cruz Experience is based in San Rafael, Marin County, and exists to bring that depth of knowledge to restaurants, catering operations, hotels, private clients, and anyone serious about raising their culinary standard across the Bay Area. The goal has always been the same: create food experiences that people remember long after the last bite. Now it is time to help others do the same.
